California Arts University welcomes passionate musicians and artists who are ready to develop their talents, strengthen their craft, and prepare for lives of purpose and impact.

Application Requirements

Bachelor of Arts in Music

• A high school diploma
• An official transcript from the current and previous college/university
• A California Arts University Application

• A copy of ID or passport
• A letter of recommendation
• A personal audition or a recent video recording if necessary
• Graduate diagnostic examinations for new graduate students

Master of Arts in Contemporary Music Performance

• A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent
• An official transcript from the current and previous college/university
• A California Arts University Application

• A copy of ID or passport
• Two letters of recommendation
• A personal audition or a recent video recording if necessary
• Graduate diagnostic examinations for new graduate studentsPerformance (MACMP). This program is distinctly contemporary in its content, approach, and

embraces the principal musical movements of our time.

Doctor of Musical Arts

• A Master’s degree or its equivalent
• An official transcript from the current and previous college/university
• A California Arts University Application

• A copy of ID or passport
• Two letters of recommendation
• A personal audition or a recent video recording if necessary
• Graduate diagnostic examinations for new graduate students

How to Apply

Step 1: Submit an Application

• Complete the online application form. →(“Apply Now” button)

Step 2: Prepare Your Materials

• Academic Transcripts – Official records from previous schools.

• Personal Statement – A brief essay on your musical journey and goals.

• Letters of Recommendation – From teachers or professionals in the field.

• Identification – A copy of your ID or passport

Step 3: Audition & Interview

• Submit an audition video or schedule a live audition.

• Some programs may require an interview.

Step 4: Receive Your Admission Decision

• Once all materials are reviewed, applicants will be notified of their acceptance status.

Priority
Deadlines

Fall Semester

Priority Deadline: March 1

Applicants who submit all materials and pay the application fee by March 1 receive priority consideration. 

Spring Semester

Priority Deadline: October 1

Applicants who submit all materials and pay the application fee by October 1 receive priority consideration. 

Late Admission
