Voice Faculty Dr. Wi Young Oh performs Opera "Samsons et Dalila"

Tenor Wi Young Oh to Star in 'Samson et Dalila,' Invited by Taiwan's Elite Music Foundation

Tenor Wi Young Oh, who is both the conductor of the HUFS Choral and an alumnus of the GCEO 11th cohort, has been invited by the Elite Music Foundation (Taiwan), one of the nation's leading music organizations, to star in the title role of French composer Camille Saint-Saëns's opera, Samson et Dalila.

The performance will be conducted entirely in French and is set to be a large-scale production, featuring a chorus of approximately 50 members and an orchestra of 40 musicians. Taking on the role of Samson, Wi Young Oh is expected to leave a profound impression on the audience with his rich emotional delivery and powerful vocal presence.

Samson et Dalila is a canonical work of French Romantic opera that is consistently staged in major opera houses worldwide. The work dramatically portrays the story of love, betrayal, and redemption between the biblical figures Samson and Dalila, set to magnificent music.

Tenor Wi Young Oh’s appearance is highly anticipated as an opportunity to further solidify the standing of Korean vocalists on the international stage.
